During holidays and holiday weekends, the risk of an alcohol-related crash becomes even greater. According to traffic safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that the daily death toll from drunk driving crashes during holiday weekends is significantly more than other times of the year.

NHTSA data shows that an average of 36 fatalities occur per day on America's roadways as a result of crashes involving an alcohol impaired driver. That number increases to 45 per day during holiday periods and jumps to 54 per day over the New Year's holiday.

The list below notes the holidays most associated with drunk driving wrecks throughout the year in the United States:

2 - Halloween

4 - Thanksgiving Weekend

5 - Christmas Weekend

6 - Memorial Day Weekend
