School Bus Driver Charged with DUI
Police in Westampton, New Jersey, arrested a woman for DUI while she was operating a school bus carrying 25 children, police officials said.
Officers were alerted to the situation when children on the bus called their parents on Monday, alleging that their bus driver, 46-year-old Carole Crockett, was swerving, driving erratically and falling asleep behind the wheel. The parents called the police, who pulled the bus over while it was stopped to pick up more children.
Crockett submitted to a breathalyzer test, which revealed a blood-alcohol level of .25 percent, police said. She was charged with driving a commercial vehicle while under the influence, endangering the welfare of children, and other offenses.
